Brand History
Its origin is lost in the mists of time and seems to date back to the Middle Ages in Europe. From southern Italy, the maccarone, which used to designate different shapes of pasta depending on the region, arrived in France in the 16th century with Queen Catherine de Medici, who thus offered the French of the Renaissance a new delight. In 1552 François Rabelais in the "Quart livre" evokes a "small round pastry with almonds" (chap. 59, ed. R. Marichal, p. 241) without giving a precise recipe.
